FAQ: Handlettering Workshop Munich

What is the difference between calligraphy and hand lettering?

Calligraphy is about beautiful writing with specific tools (e.g. pen and ink), with each letter created in a flow.
Handlettering, on the other hand, is more like drawing with letters: Each letter is carefully designed, often in multiple steps. You work with different pens (e.g., brush pens), combine font styles, and add creative touches. In short: handlettering is freer, more playful, and perfect for designing cards, signs, or prints.

Is hand lettering difficult to learn?

Not at all! In hand lettering, it's not perfection that counts, but personality, and that's exactly what makes it so cool.
With a few basic techniques, a little practice, and our step-by-step instructions, you'll quickly get a feel for shapes and strokes. Many of our participants are surprised by how quickly they produce their first great results on paper. You can, too!

What is a handlettering workshop?

In our handlettering workshop, you'll learn how to design letters creatively—using different font styles, arrangement tricks, and small highlights like flourishes or shadows.
We'll start with the basics and practice together, relaxed and without pressure. We'll provide all the materials, try out different pens, and at the end, create your own little work of art.
Perfect for beginners and anyone looking for a creative break with a drink in hand.
